Free Swatches
Screens lie about colour. Pick up to six fabrics and we will post them first class, free, usually the same day. No card details, no follow-up phone call.
How to order free fabric swatches
Choose up to six fabrics from the swatch grid below, add your name and address, and press send. Swatches are cut from current stock and posted first class free of charge, usually the same working day. Most arrive within two to three days.
- Select up to six fabrics from the grid on this page.
- Enter your name, email and postal address.
- We cut the pieces from the roll we are currently upholstering with, not from a sample book.
- They arrive first class, free, with the fabric name, composition, Martindale rub count and cleaning code printed on the reverse.
Why a swatch changes the decision
North-facing rooms pull grey and green out of every fabric; south-facing rooms pull yellow. A swatch on your own wall at 7pm under your own lamps tells you something no photograph can. Around a third of customers change their mind after the samples arrive, which is exactly the point.
How to judge a swatch properly
- Look at it three times — morning daylight, overcast afternoon, and 8pm under your own lamps. Velvet in particular shifts more than any other fabric between the three.
- Hold it vertically against the wall, not flat on the duvet. A headboard is a vertical surface and reads darker than the same fabric lying flat.
- Put it next to your flooring and curtains, not next to white paper. Undertone clashes show against wood and weave, not against white.
- Rub it with a fingertip. Velvet and chenille show a pile direction that catches light differently down each side of the bed.
What arrives in the envelope
A 15 × 15cm piece of each fabric you choose, cut from current stock rather than a sample book, with the fabric name, composition, Martindale rub count and cleaning code printed on the reverse.

Swatch questions
How much do fabric swatches cost?
Nothing. Up to six swatches are posted free by first class post anywhere in the UK, with no minimum order and no obligation to buy.
How long do swatches take to arrive?
We usually cut and post the same working day. First class delivery means most orders arrive within two to three days, and Highland and island addresses within four.
Can I order more than six swatches?
Six is the limit per request because the pieces are cut by hand from live stock. If you need the whole range, email hello@legendbeds.co.uk and we will send a full sample card. Interior designers and trade accounts get the complete library free — see trade and commercial.
Will the fabric that arrives be the fabric on my bed?
Yes. Pieces are cut from the roll we are currently upholstering with rather than from a supplier sample book, so dye-lot variation between your swatch and your bed is minimal. If a roll changes between your swatch arriving and your order being built, we contact you before we cut.
Do you have fabrics that are best for children's beds?
Chenille and bouclé both clean with a damp cloth and a mild detergent, which is why they are the two we recommend for a child's bed. Velvet marks and recovers. Linen stains.
