What is a TV bed?

A TV bed is a bed frame with a television screen built into the footboard. The screen is stored flat inside the footboard housing and rises on an electric lift, operated by remote. When it is lowered, the bed looks like an ordinary upholstered frame.

Most TV beds also offer storage. Legend Beds TV beds use either a gas-lift ottoman cavity beneath the mattress platform, or side-access divan drawers, depending on the model.

What size TV fits a TV bed?

Screen capacity is set by the internal width of the footboard housing, which is governed by the bed size. A wider bed takes a wider screen. Legend Beds states the maximum screen size for each size of each model on that model's own product page rather than quoting a single figure across the range.

Check three things before ordering: the maximum screen size in inches, the width of your television including its bezel, and whether your TV uses a standard VESA mount.

Ottoman lift or divan drawers?

An ottoman TV bed lifts the whole mattress platform on gas struts, giving one large storage cavity. It needs clear floor space at the foot or side of the bed to open.

A divan TV bed uses drawers that pull out from the side of the base. Drawers hold less overall but need less clearance and are easier to access without moving bedding.

Before you order

• Measure the doorway, stairwell and turns the frame must pass through.
• Measure the floor clearance needed for the ottoman lid or drawers to open.
• Check ceiling height allows the screen to rise fully.
• Confirm a mains socket is reachable from the foot of the bed.
• Check your television's weight and VESA mount against the model specification.

What happens if the screen is too wide for the bed size? The screen will not seat correctly in the housing. Always check the maximum screen size stated for the specific bed size you are ordering, not the largest figure in the range.
