Which bed type do you need?
Almost every decision in a UK bedroom comes down to how much storage you need and how much floor space you have to open it.

UK bed sizes
UK sizes are not the same as European or US sizes. Order bedding to the UK size name, not a converted measurement.

Measuring before you order
Most delivery problems are access problems, not size problems. Measure the route before the room.
- Doorway width and height, including any turn immediately beyond it.
- Stairwell width and the tightest turn on the way up.
- Ceiling height on the landing, for tilting a headboard through.
- Floor clearance for the ottoman lid or drawers to open.
- Around 60cm of walking space around the bed where the room allows.
- Extra length behind the bed for a floor-standing headboard.
The headboard is usually the widest single component, so measure it separately rather than assuming it matches the base.
Questions before you choose
Ottoman or divan drawers? Ottoman for volume, drawers for everyday access. An ottoman needs the bed cleared before opening; drawers do not.
Side lift or end lift? Side lift where you have floor space along one long edge, end lift where the bed sits in an alcove or between wardrobes.
Does the mattress come with the bed? Only where the product page says so. Beds and mattresses are priced separately unless sold as a set.
How high will the finished bed be? Add the mattress depth to the base height. Sitting on the edge, your feet should reach the floor comfortably.
Can I use my own headboard? On divan and divan ottoman bases, usually yes if the fixings match. Frames with an integrated headboard cannot take a separate one.
